Teaching Kids About God's Love Through Everyday Moments
May 16, 2025Teaching Kids About God's Love Through Everyday Moments
You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to teach your kids about God’s love.
You don’t need a degree in theology.
You don’t even need to have all the answers.
What kids need most is to experience God's love through everyday life.
Faith isn’t just something they learn at church—it’s something they absorb through how we live, lead, and love them.
Watch on YouTube or listen on Raising Faithful Families podcast.
Today, let’s explore how everyday moments can become powerful opportunities to point our kids toward the heart of God.
Why Everyday Moments Matter
Faith isn’t supposed to be isolated to Sunday services.
It’s meant to be woven into our lives naturally and consistently.
📖 Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says:
"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
Notice:
-
Sit at home
-
Walk along the road
-
Lie down
-
Get up
Faith is meant to be lived out in the ordinary.
And when we invite God into those simple rhythms, we show our kids that He’s real, personal, and present.
How to Weave God's Love Into Everyday Life
You don’t need a complicated plan.
Small, sincere moments can leave a lifelong impact.
Here are a few ideas:
1️⃣ Point Out God's Creation
-
“Look at that sunset! God is such an amazing artist.”
-
“Listen to the birds singing. God gave each one a special song!”
2️⃣ Thank Him for Provision
-
“Thank You, God, for this delicious food.”
-
“God always makes sure we have what we need.”
3️⃣ Celebrate Character, Not Just Achievement
-
“I'm so proud of how you were kind to your brother. That's how God wants us to love each other.”
-
“You told the truth even though it was hard. God appreciates your honesty, and so do I!”
4️⃣ Turn Mistakes Into Grace Moments
-
“We all make mistakes, but you are still so loved. God always forgives us—and we can forgive each other too.”
5️⃣ Let Them Hear Your Conversations with God
-
A quick prayer in the car.
-
Thanking God for a good day.
-
Asking Him for peace during tough times.
When faith becomes a normal part of daily conversations, kids don't just hear about the Lord—they experience Him.
Encouragement for Parents
You don’t need to orchestrate perfect “faith moments.”
You just need to live authentically.
Every little prayer.
Every word of encouragement.
Every time you point out God's goodness.
It matters.
📖 Zechariah 4:10 reminds us:
"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin."
Trust that the tiny seeds of truth you plant today are growing deep roots for tomorrow.
Quick Challenge: One Moment a Day
Here’s a simple goal:
Find one moment each day this week to naturally point your child’s heart back to God.
It could sound like:
-
“God gave you such a thoughtful heart.”
-
“Isn’t it amazing how God made all the stars?”
-
“God is always with us—even when we feel scared.”
Small moments. Big impact.

Final Encouragement:
You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to be polished.
You just have to be willing to live out your faith where your kids can see it.
And in doing that—you'll teach them about God’s love in the most powerful way possible. 💛
